One of the hardest parts of the body to slim down is the stomach. No matter how hard you try, sometimes it seems like getting rid of that belly bulge is an impossible task.  Well believe it or not, it’s not impossible. As a matter of fact, it is actually a lot easier than you think. With a little determination and self-discipline, you can achieve those rock hard wash board abs in no time just by making a few small changes.

Make sure that you are getting enough fibre in your diet.  Fibre is a great way to feel full, but it also keeps your digestive system in order.  Not only that, but it has been proven that for those who intake the recommended daily amount, produce less visceral fat, which is the hardest kind of fat to get rid of.

Get your heart rate up

No matter what the activity, getting your heart rate up is guaranteed to help battle your bulge.  Everything from fast paced walking, to jogging, skating, cycling, even doing yard work will help.  Get out and get some fresh air for at least 30 mins a day while breaking a small sweat and you will start to notice changes in your mid-section that you didn’t even think were possible.

A major part of any weight loss success story is water. Never leave the house without it. In fact, never leave the room without it.  Water is great for detoxifying the body, it helps flush out all that nasty stuff building up inside and leaves you feeling refreshed and glowing.  It’s great for your skin and even more so your waistline.  As you head out for your 30 mins sweat session, grab yourself a big bottle of ice cold water. The colder the better, as your body will end up burning even more calories trying to warm it up. So not only are you staying hydrated, but you are burning calories while doing it.

A great way to get rid of fat, is yoga. As there are plenty of exercises and positions within Yoga that are core focused, it is one of the most effective ways to win the belly fat battle while at the same time working your entire body and relaxing.  Sounds like an all-around win!

Sleep

One of the most important factors in staying healthy is getting a solid night’s sleep.  There is no worse feeling than dragging yourself out of bed after a terrible sleep and trying to function for the rest of the day.  Forget about making healthy choices and going to Yoga class, who has the energy for that when they aren’t sleeping properly? Take a look around your room and see what can interfere with your beloved zzz’s. Try to minimize distractions, be it your TV, cell phone or tablet and you will fall into a blissful slumber like none other.  Not only will you feel refreshed and ready to take on the world, but those who sleep 5 hours or more on a regular basis tend to produce less visceral fat than those who don’t.

  1. Work those abs

You can eat, sleep and drink like the healthiest person in the world, but without a little hard work and some sore abs, you may have a little difficulty banishing that belly fat.  Start with something simple, like bicycle crunches and then as they become easier, move up to something a little more challenging like burpees or mountain climbers.  Even small things like keeping your abs tight as you walk around, jog, ride your bike, will make huge changes.

Of course it’s easier said than done when it comes to getting rid of the most stubborn fat on the planter.  But once you commit, you will be astonished at how fast making these small changes will show you results. Once you incorporate even the smallest of changes in to your daily routine, it’s all smooth sailing from there.
